About us...

The Bridge Inn is a traditional English Country pub, serving a selection of great real ales, good wines and excellent home cooked food.  Owned and managed personally by Dave and Natasha Challis, the Bridge offers an extensive menu of pub classics as well as daily specials including  fish, steaks, vegetarian, and a few special Mediterranean dishes prepared by well known Greek chef George Koulouris.

The Bridge is situated on the edge of Amberley parish at Houghton Bridge and in the heart of the National Park.  Alongside the river Arun. and at the half way point of the ‘South Downs Way’, there are riverside and down-land walks right on the doorstep.  Amberley Chalk Pits Working museum is right next door.  The pub has a long association with the museum, having once been the ‘beer shop’ for the quarry and lime kiln workers.

The famous Amberley castle hotel is a couple of minutes away and is often the venue for  celebrity weddings, so you never know who may be sitting on the next bench at ‘The Bridge’.  Amberley mainline railway station is a two minute walk away.

The pretty beer garden and patio in summer, and the log fires, candles and cosy atmosphere in winter make the bridge a great place to visit for a meal or just a drink and a chat with friends.  Either those you bring with you, or those you meet while you’re here.

Voted West Sussex Pub of the Year 2014/15.
